March Mission Giving - USPG

The Mission Giving for the month of March went to the work of U.S.P.G.  Thanks to Linda Chambers the National Co-ordinator for Ireland, based in Mohill, Co. Leitrim for speaking on 25th March.  U.S.P.G., gives long term funding for churches around the world to plan ahead, emergency grants to famine and earthquake areas as well as providing one off grants for eye operations in Bangladesh and school dinners in Peru.  Our Mission Giving for April is for the Bishops’ Appeal – Diocesan Projects.  Meath & Kildare Dioceses through the Diocesan Synod has decided to support, for a period of three years, two projects in the developing world.   Please pray for the projects also.  The first project is to supply medical equipment for Malawi – a country between implosion and resurrection.   The cost of one machine to help prevent the transmission of HIV/AIDS from mother to baby is €11,000.  The second project is to sponsor a feeding programme for orphaned children with HIV/AIDS in Ubombo, South Africa.  It costs €1,050 each month to offer this specialised diet to these children.  You can use either the Mission g

Annual Giving Policy:

All giving is done in the context of a Christ focused and Christ loving Church. A system of Stewardship is the key to Annual Giving using the Envelope scheme, Standing Order Mandate or Annual sustentation, which will allow the parish to function and to tithe to secular and Christian charities. Other areas of giving are through Gift Days, special collections and nominated monthly charity giving. Strategies: Annually preach and teach on giving. Train Personnel for Stewardship teams. Encourage tithing. “Gift Day” for specific projects. The giving of Supermarket Vouchers for emergencies. Regular giving will ensure future plans and programmes can be carried out. yet another egg.jpg

As an Anglican mission agency, they do this alongside churches and communities around the world, providing the resources — people, money and ideas — that they define as necessary to meet local needs. Their work involves pastoral care, social action and supporting training programmes. In many countries, they work with the Anglican Church and set up projects to support the impoverished and marginalized. This work has included:
+ Health care, through funding hospitals, HIV/AIDS awareness programmes and training for medical personnel.
+ Education, through funding new schools and sending teachers to wherever there is a need.
+ Church ministry; through funding theological training and pastoral programmes.
+ Cross-cultural training — because they believe that each part of the church can learn from every other part.
+ Inter-faith relations, including work in many of the world’s trouble spots.
U.S.P.G. also encourages parishes in Britain and Ireland to partici
